Last Friday, Aqua-Tots Swim School invited the families of South Phoenix Macaroni Kid out to swim. I had never been inside an Aqua-Tots Swim School but I had heard good things. I will admit I was a little worried about swimming in the winter, so I did a little research.
My research led me to their website where I learned that the pooll was not only indoors, but heated to 90 degrees. Sounded pretty nice to me!
When we arrived, we were greeted and told where we could go to change. I don't know what I was expecting but I was very pleased by the facility and all they provided. They have several changing rooms, 2 rest rooms perfect for families, a sink area, community board, drinking fountains and even a little toy area. There were lockers where you could store your clothes. Everything provided made our trip much more convenient.
The pool is inside the building, but on top of that it is inside its own enclosed area. That keeps the area around the pool nice and warm and the people around the pool nice and dry.. They also tried to make sure the floor was dry so nobody slipped. Overall the facility was very nice.
My kids loved the free swim time with all the school's "teaching tools" like noodles and varying sizes of floating things. After we got out, they kept asking when they could get back in. They liked it so much that I decided to sign them up for swimming lessons even though it means driving 30 min. My kids have never taken a lesson and I've been nervous about putting them in classes with too many kids. I was so happy to find out that the class sizes at Aqua-Tots are small. My kids only have 4 people total in their class. Their coach was able to pay attention to them all and I didn't worry about my kids.
At our first lesson, everyone was helpful and nice. We changed in their changing rooms and waited for lessons. There was plenty of seating. My kids were excited when their coach called their names. They went in the pool with Coach Alyssa and even though they were doing new things that weren't comfortable for them, they stayed in the pool and didn't cry or refuse to go (my kids' go-to when they're scared of something new). Everyone made them feel so comfortable that they weren't afraid of trying new things. I think this was one of the biggest feats of all and I was impressed. After the lesson, Coach Alyssa let me know what they need to work on. Each student has a card that shows what techniques and skills they have mastered and they use it every week. I love this way of tracking. This way even if I have to go to a make-up lesson with another coach, they know what my kids can and cannot do.
Overall, I was and still am very impressed with Aqua-Tots swim school in Ahwatukee. The facility is very nice and the staff are friendly. If you're looking for a year-round swim school with small class sizes and friendly, knowledgable coaches, consider Aqua-Tots in Ahwatukee. There are classes for different ability and age levels. Check out their website for class information. Let them know we sent you!
I am receiving compensation in exchange for promotion. However, these opinions are my own. Just keep in mind... if I didn't trust them and like the school, I wouldn't be taking my kids.
